About

Aaron Welty in the FENX IV

Born ten weeks premature, Aaron Welty was not expected to live past his first night. He spent most of his early years in hospitals in the suburbs of the Metro Detroit Area where he was able to grow up, thanks to a wonderful and loving family.

Diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy as a new born, he overcame those early years of low expectations and a presupposed poor quality of life to serve as the Senior Legislative Assistant for Michigan’s 11th Congressional District, wherein he focused on a variety of policy issues. He graduated from Cedarville University in 2006 with a degree in Public Administration. Prior to working on Capitol Hill, Aaron worked in Marketing and Media at The Heritage Foundation.

An avid fan of comic books, superheroes, general geekery, and Star Wars in particular, he once pulled a muscle in his back after playing 5+ hours of a Star Wars lightsaber game on Nintendo’s Wii gaming system and computed the airspeed velocity of an unladen swallow for extra credit on a high school physics test; these days, he drives an electric “rocket-car” called the FENX that his Dad built.

Passionate about the ideas of individual purpose and destiny, his unique story of faith, family, perseverance and chasing dreams has been shared on NBC Nightly News, various radio programs, Roll Call – a nationally syndicated newspaper – and Facing Life Head On, a life-issues focused television program. You can follow him on Twitter at @arwelty and at www.aaronwelty.com and the FENX on Facebook at The FENX Project.
